Thursday afternoon the temperature dropped and so did the sleet and freezing rain. One of my dear friends at work, who lives close to our school and just happens to be off the last period of the day, came to cover my class so I could get Garrett picked up and back home before the roads got too bad. Ice was accumulating and freezing onto my windshield by the time we pulled into the drive way.

Garrett was thrilled about the ice because it gave him a reason to wear his jacket. He LOVES wearing his jacket. In fact, his teachers at school have to try to persuade him to take it off all day. He even wants to wear it during nap time.

When we woke up the next morning, our yard was covered in ice. 4 inches of ice to be exact! We've been iced in for four days now. It's been nice having two extra days off of work to be at home with my boys, but it won't be so great when we are making them up in April. It's rare that Ryan is able to stay home on snow days, but the roads were bad enough to close down the dealership. I'm so thankful that the dealership was closed because one of the buildings collapsed from the weight of the ice. Thankfully no one was there and no one was hurt. It will be a huge job to get that shop up and running again.

We had plenty of time to play with our food! Ryan thought our gingerbread Santa needed a beard. Garrett thought this was hilarious.

Snowman pancakes for breakfast the next morning.

More Santa hats and Christmas shaped sandwiches.

We had time to clean the house too! Garrett was sure to push his "pop-pop" around while we were vacuuming.

Ryan kept the fireplace going. He may or may not have ventured out to the land behind us to find some impromptu fire wood. Hank was loving the fire and camped out in front of the fireplace until we had to move him away. He was burning up!

This little guy watched 1,000 tractor videos!

To avoid iPad zombie-itis, we bundled up and headed outside for some fun.
We've got to get this little guy some mittens! Every store we've looked at has been sold out, with an exception of these little garden gloves I found at Walmart the other day. Poor kid.
It was an eerie sound to hear these huge trees creak and crack as the wind blew.
Even Hank joined in on the action. We put his sweater on and he was ready to go!
This little guy would have played out there all day if we'd have let him. Oh the tears that fell when he had to come in and warm up. Such a hard life!
The next day Ryan took Garrett out for some more fun in the ice. We rounded up the laundry basket and our trusty sled dog.
Hank was quite a hit with the neighborhood kids!
Uncle Chad came up the next day and we made some chili to help us stay warm. We were hoping that the ice would melt and we'd be able to get back to normal on Monday, but we are still at home today. I have no complaints though. I'll take all the time I can get with my little man!
