Swimming Lessons

We signed Garrett up for Water Tots this summer at the local Natatorium, and he finished his two week class with flying colors.  The class focuses on helping kids become comfortable in water along with water safety.  For two weeks Garrett woke up ready to go "wim" at the "poo."

Each class began with a song that showcased each of the tots in the class.  The swim instructor was full of energy and the hour class seemed like we were only there for about ten minutes.  Each day a new skill was introduced and practiced.  Garrett loved learning to climb out of the pool and "Humpty Dumpty" fall back into the water.  He loved reaching out for toys to practice his swim strokes.

During the second class Garrett learned to go underwater.  I was afraid that he was going to have a melt down since he hates washing his hair in the bathtub, but much to my surprise he came up smiling.  He did not like floating on his back or sharing the pool rings!

The last day of Water Tots all of the kids were able to go to the water park and explore.  With the unusually cool summer weather we are having, the water was freezing cold!  But that didn't stop Garrett.  He ran full force into the pool.  Some of the older kids came out to join in the fun and Garrett froze, watching their every move.

I'm so proud of my little swimmer!  We will definitely be signing him up for this class again next summer.
