We visited the children's zoo where we tried to get him to pet some of the animals, but he would shake his head no. He did feed some of the coy though.
We did our best trying to stay cool and enjoyed a snow cone. I think Garrett ate the majority of it!
We stopped for a water break, and this little guy took off. Mimi had to chase after him and he thought it was pretty funny!
While we did see quite a few animals, it was tough to find them. I'm pretty sure they were all trying to stay cool in this Texas summer heat by staying indoors or hidden in the shade.
Garrett got to ride, not one, but two trains that day! He rode the Safari Express train first, then the monorail. He was sat completely still the entire train ride, soaking everything in. Every few seconds he would say, "choo-choo" and "ooooo." He was definitely impressed!
The monorail was our last stop of the day. We saw a ton of animals on this tour, but I was about to die from the heat! With a top speed of maybe 4, there wasn't much wind coming in.
Garrett was such a trouper. He played hard and saw so many new things, sans nap and any major melt downs.
Dedra was able to come to the zoo with us and came home with us to hang out the rest of the week. We enjoyed having her to keep us company. Garrett never let her out of his sight, crying crocodile tears when she had to go take a shower!
Friday night we all loaded up to spend the night with my parents since Ryan had to work this Saturday and we needed to get Dedra back home. We met up with Grandma and Grandpa for dinner and then we all went back to my parent's house. We sat out in the backyard and watched Garrett play in his pool. He's really getting some good use out of this pool. I love the mini blow up pool because we can load it up and take it with us. Hank loves it too!!
