One of Ryan's childhood friends, Chase, and his wife Jennifer invited us to see their new home in Fredericksburg and celebrate Chase's birthday this weekend. We took Garrett and Hank to stay with grandparents and we were able to enjoy an "adult" weekend.
When we arrived we had a quick tour of their amazing home (check out her blog to see for yourself) before heading out to see the town. We had lunch and drinks at Auslander, then went out to do some shopping.

We all loaded up and took a drive to Luckenbach. We listened to some live music and picked up some t-shirts and garage signs before moving on to our next stop.

It's hard to tell from the pictures below, but just to the left of the rock platform is a hole in the trees. We patiently waited for sunset to watch about a million bats come swirling out of the trees. By the end of the summer, over 3 million bats will find this spot to rest during the day.
After the bats were gone we had dinner at the Alamo Springs Cafe. Talk about an amazing fried avocado!!
The next day we gathered up the crew and made our way out to float the Comal River. The river was cool and refreshing. I was expecting to see a ton of crazy college kids partying it up, but to my surprise it was pretty family friendly and much cleaner than the Guad!

After our day on the river we headed back to the house for brisket tacos and a dip in the hot tub. We had a blast catching up with great friends and seeing their new home. We are already looking forward to our next visit!
