9 Months

Dear Garrett,

You are keeping me and your Daddy quite busy these days.  You are all over the place, crawling from room to room, pulling up on anything you can find, and even climbing on anything those short little legs can reach!  Daddy has lowered your crib mattress twice to keep you from diving overboard.  

Your favorite toys are your blocks, your Baby Einstein table, books, and anything you can chew on. 

Your nine month check up was quite an adventure.  We ended up waiting for two hours before we finally saw the doctor.  Mommy was not happy with the doctors for making us wait so long, but you were such a patient little man.  You played with a sweet little boy in the waiting room, watched some TV, played with your toys, and you were even generous enough to have a blow out while we were waiting.  The doctor said you were developing right on track, and you only had to get the second round of your flu shot.  You only cried for a second, but perked right up when the nurse started blowing lots of bubbles to distract you.

You have 3 teeth right now, and at least two more are trying to work their way in.  There are two on the bottom and one on the top.  You are still wearing a size 3 diaper, and changing you is quite the challenge.  You HATE  to lay still on your back.  We've tried everything to distract you...toys, singing songs, etc., to keep you from crying while changing you. I think you are just going to be very strong willed!  You are still drinking 4-5 oz. at a time.  You like eating sweet potato Puffs and Cheerios, but you choke on them sometimes because you don't want to take the time to let them "melt" in your mouth. 

You are not sleeping through the night because your teeth are bothering you.  You wake up and fuss, but will typically go right back to sleep once you find your paci to chew on.   Sometimes you are just hungry and wanting another bottle, but you will keep your eyes closed the entire time and fall fast asleep when you finish. 

You are very serious, really like to check things out and explore.  However, this also means that your dad and I have to sign "incident reports" at school all of the time.  You are always falling and getting bruises on your head or busting your lip. 

You can clap your hands, but you won't do it if we want you to do it.  It has to be your idea!  You can say Mama.  We are working on Dada too.  I love listening to you jabber during our rides in the car.

Oh dear...that sweet smile melts my heart every time. 

You make me the happiest mom in the world, and I am so proud of you.  I love you with all my heart!
